Christine Krahulik announces bid for Orange County Family Court judgeship

— Warwick resident Christine Krahulik has announced her candidacy for the Office of Family Court Judge of Orange County.

Krahulik serves as a Family Court Support Magistrate in Orange and Westchester County Family Courts.

Longtime Orange County Family Court Judge Andrew P. Bivona, will be retiring at the end of 2014.

The election for his seat will be held Nov. 4.

Background
Krahulik has worked in the Orange County Family Court for 14 years, first as the principal court attorney to a family court judge for seven years, and currently in the position of support magistrate.

As a support magistrate, Krahulik hears cases in Family Court pertaining to local and interstate child support, spousal support, paternity, violations of support orders, enforcement and modifications of judgments of divorce, and modifications of support orders.

According to her press release announcing her candidacy, Krahulik hears and decides nearly 2,800 Family Court and support cases per year.

Krahulik is a graduate of Siena College and Albany Law School. She has been a member of the New York State Bar Association for more than 23 years; she also is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court.

Krahulik serves on the Family Court Advisory Committee for the Supreme Court of the State of New York, Appellate Division Second Department Office of Attorneys for the Children.

Prior to being employed with the court system, Krahulik was in private practice before serving as law clerk to Carol Klein.

Community work
Krahulik is also involved in many community- and charity-based organizations: as a member of the St. Anthony Community Hospital Board of Directors for nine years; serving as treasurer, vice president and president of the Women's Bar Association of Orange and Sullivan Counties; newsletter editor for the Women's Bar Association of the State of New York; and serving on the Board of Directors of Leadership Orange.

Her other volunteer work includes the United Way of Orange County and Safe Homes of Orange County.

Krahulik was a 2006 Honoree of the Tribute to Women of Achievement Orange County and a 2007 Alumni of Distinction from her former high school in upstate Rotterdam.

She lives in Warwick with her two children.
