Candidate Q&A: Chris Gurda for Goshen Village Trustee
Five candidates are running for two seats on the Village of Goshen Board of Trustees. The election is Wednesday, March 18 at Village Hall, 276 Main St. Goshen, N.Y. Polls will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Why are you running for trustee?
I am running to serve as village trustee to continue the progress our board has made to date and guide the Village of Goshen through the unprecedented growth that is occurring in our part of Orange County. I am proud to have served as an elected trustee on the village board since 2014, and look forward to continue working with my running mate, and also current Village Trustee, Cynthia Hand. My goals have always been clear – to keep the Village of Goshen a great place to live and raise a family, maintain the high quality of life that our residents expect and keep taxes in check while still providing the excellent services our village delivers every day.
What are the top three things you aim to accomplish if elected?
If reelected, I look forward to seeing through the tremendous improvements that our Joint Parks & Recreation Commission has been making at Erie Street Park and the further planned improvements at Myron Urbanski Memorial Park which is the result of intermunicipal cooperation and the common goal of keeping Goshen a great place to live and raise a family. I will also ensure that our municipal services provided to our residents remain at a high level and work within budget constraints to improve our infrastructure for the benefit of current residents and future generations of village residents.
Why are you the best candidate for this position?
I am an attorney for over 20 years practicing law predominantly in Orange County. My children and I live, work and play here in the Village of Goshen. I have a vested interest in Goshen’s present and future. The Village of Goshen is a wonderful place to live, visit and do business. I look forward to continuing to serve our community, protecting our quality of life and fostering progress and growth in a manner that is beneficial for all community members and business owners. My past experience and know-how and proven track record of keeping Goshen moving forward through collaborative efforts with our village board and other municipal boards make me the right choice for Village of Goshen trustee.
