Assemblyman recognizes local bagel store as Small Business of the Month
CHESTER — State Assemblyman Colin Schmitt, R-99, launched his small business of the month appreciation program last month by recognizing a township bage shop.
According to a press release, the program is designed to show appreciation for a local small business in his district each month.
For the month of March he recognized Bagel Girls, located at 69 Brookside Avenue in Chester, to be the Small Business of the Month.
Bagel Girls is owned by a mother and daughter, Michele Young and Toni Streisfeld, and has been in business in Chester for three years.
“Small businesses are the backbone of our local economy," Assemblyman Colin Schmitt said in the release. "Our communities thrive when local businesses succeed. I am proud to recognize Bagel Girls in Chester as the Small Business of the Month for March. Bagel Girls has been in business in the Chester area for three years and has a great reputation in the community. I congratulate Michele and her entire team for earning the distinction of small business of the month. Keep up the great work.”
Bagel Girls Owner Michele Young thanked Schmitt for recognizing the local business as part of his program,
“I have always dreamed of opening my own store and finally decided to do it when I turned 60 years old," Young said. "I have always found it so rewarding to serve the community with great food and to meet so many wonderful people. We have so many loyal customers who come in every day and so many new faces that come in as well. The amount of support we have received over the three years has been amazing and we could not feel more blessed. We are located right on Brookside Avenue in Chester, which is conveniently located for the residents of our community!”
“Thank you Assemblyman Schmitt for recognizing Bagel Girls as the Small Business of the Month. I am so proud and happy for my mom and her dream that has finally come true. She has dreamed of owning a store her whole life and I couldn’t be happier that she was able to finally open Bagel Girls Café," daughter and store Manager Toni Streisfeld said. "She is a harder worker than anyone I know and all her hard work has really paid off. Over 26 years managing Bagel Boys in Suffern, and now she has a store to call her own. I am so happy that I am able to share her dream with her and am able to work alongside her every day. Thank You Assemblyman Schmitt for honoring Bagel Girls Cafe with the Small Business of the Month Award.”
John Vero, County Legislator also thanked Schmitt for working on behalf of the township,
“Thank you to Assemblyman Schmitt for his continued efforts on behalf of Chester and our entire district," Vero said. "Particularly, I am happy to join him here today to recognize Bagel Girls as Small Business of the Month.
