All are welcome at High Holiday Services and children’s programs at Chabad

MONROE — Chabad invites the community to inspiring, meaningful and user-friendly High Holiday services, “where you will feel at home and welcome,” said Rabbi Pesach Burston, director of Chabad of Orange County.
Services will be held on Rosh Hashanah - the Jewish New Year (this year Sept. 9-11), as well as Yom Kippur - the Day of Atonement (Sept. 18-19).
All services – including a special children’s program - will be held at the American Legion Banquet Hall located at 532 Lakes Road in Monroe.
“All are welcome regardless of experience or affiliation,” said Chana Burston, co-director of Chabad.
Goal: Accessible and user-friendlyThere is no charge and membership, tickets or passes are not required.
“Our goal is to make experiencing High Holidays as accessible as possible and not make finances a condition of joining,” Burston explained.
Whether your background in Jewish prayer and practice is extensive or limited, the services at Chabad – where the warmth and authenticity of the traditional are blended with the comfort and practicality of the contemporary – will leave you feeling enriched, connected, uplifted, and energized to start the New Year on a high note.
Chabad’s services are “user-friendly,” making it enjoyable and meaningful for both the beginner and the advanced. Song, commentary and the use of provided English-Hebrew prayer books enable those of all levels to become active participants in the services; everyone will be able to follow along.
Rosh HashanahOn Rosh Hashanah there will be interactive services for children with story time, games, toys, snacks and lots of fun with experienced staff. “This will be a fun way to introduce the wonderful world of the Synagogue to children while giving the parents a chance to enjoy the services,” said Chana Burston.
In addition, there will be an interactive youth service, for children ages 7 and above, with prayers, holiday stories and games as well as snacks.
Yom KippurFor Yom Kippur the children’s program will feature a special “Yom Kippur Magic Show” for children of all ages as well as an educational program.
All Rosh Hashanah day services will be followed by a buffet Kiddush. After Yom Kippur, Break-Fast will be served.
Reservations are greatly appreciated, walk-ins always welcome. There is no charge for seats, but donations are greatly appreciated.
In addition, Chabad is also offering a catered Rosh Hashanah Community Dinner with advanced reservations for a nominal fee. This dinner will offer many traditional Rosh Hashanah foods, including apples dipped in honey, round challah, gefilte fish, sweet tzimmis, brisket, farfel, honey cake and more.
