Man charged with stealing tractors from his Goshen employer

Investigators from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office arrested Nelson Colon, 55, of the Town of Wallkill on charges of third-degree grand larceny, a felony.

During a one-month period between June and July, Colon allegedly took five tractors, with a total value of nearly $40,000, from Hudson River Tractor in the Town of Goshen. At the time of the thefts, Nelson was employed by Hudson River Tractor as a delivery driver.

Investigators recovered the stolen property after tracking the machines to Middletown, New Hampton, and, with the assistance of the Mahwah Police Department, to the State of New Jersey.

Colon was arraigned before the Honorable Judge Richard Golden, and remanded to the Orange County Jail with no bail.
