Soaring Dance Theatre in Monroe is taking their piano and electronic keyboard lessons online via FaceTime.

From the comfort and safety of your own home, students ages 4 to adult, and all ability levels, can now learn virtually. These live 30-minute online classes are taught by Studio Director Roberta Monkash, an experienced and New York State certified music educator.

A graduate of New York’s High School of Performing Arts, Monkash earned a B.A. in Musicology from New York University, a Graduate Certificate in Psychomotor Therapy from New York Medical College and an M.A. in Kinesiology from Goddard College. She also holds New York State teaching certifications in Dance Education and Music Education and was a performing arts teacher at the Middletown School District for 20 years.

“Taking music lessons is one of the best things you can do for your mind,” Monkash said in the press release detailing the program. “There are so many connections that are formed when you learn to read music, apply theory, and play an instrument. The challenges are great, but so are the rewards. These online classes are perfect for adults and children who have always wanted to learn to play piano and keyboard, and for those who want to continue studying, and brush up on their skills over the summer.”

Fall registration for dance, theater and piano class sizes is now open. Classes will remain small and private lessons are also available. Soaring Dance Theatre is in full compliance with all COVID-19 health and safety protocols.
