Living the detour from Oct. 28 to Nov. 1

Route 17. Last-minute Halloween scrambling shouldn’t leave you sitting in a traffic nightmare. We’ve got the info to keep things from getting ghoulish.

As you head out to snag that last-minute Halloween costume (because your daughter changed her mind and now really does want to go trick or treating) or to pick up some candy reinforcements, there’s a few things – aside from the doorbell – to be mindful of this week, if you’re still living the detour.

Continuing our trend of letting you know when and where you’ll probably have to put on the brakes, the information we’re reporting on a weekly basis comes from the state’s transportation agencies via 511 New York.

Here’s what we know about Route 17 construction from Oct. 28 to Nov. 1:

On the eastbound side:

· From 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. there will be various lane closures between Exit 125 - South Street; NY 17M (Goshen) and Exit 126 - NY 94 (Orange).

On the westbound side:

· From 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. there will be various lane closures between Exit 126 - NY 94 (Orange) and Exit 124 - NY 17A; Ramp (Goshen).

On both sides:

· From 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. there will be moving lane closures between Exit 131 and NY 17; Thruway Connector; Ramp (Monroe) and Exit 116 - NY 17K; Ramp (Wallkill) due to roadway line striping.

Also, on Friday, Nov. 1:

· From 9 a.m. to noon there will be various westbound lane closures between Exit 126 - NY 94 (Orange) and Exit 124 - NY 17A; Ramp (Goshen).
