Goshen and Chester tech students win top awards

    Goshen and Chester students at the Orange-Ulster BOCES Division of Career and Technical Education received high honors at the school's 52nd annual Student Recognition Ceremony.
    This year's Outstanding Student Gold Award, the division's highest honor, was presented to Michael Wadja, a graduate from John S. Burke Catholic High School and an aviation student in the Transportation Academy.
    The Outstanding Student Silver Award recipient was Sabrina Trimblett from Monroe-Woodbury High School, a computer programming student in the STEM Academy.
    Michael Aglione from Goshen High School, a pharmacy technician student in the Health Careers Academy, received the Outstanding Student Bronze Award.
    Valedictorian Sabrina Trimblett, accompanied by Salutatorian Diana Munoz from Goshen High School, told the assembled students to "keep moving forward. We have been given a head start on our futures.”
    They were among 700 students honored for completing their programs at the Division of Career and Technical Education. The ceremony was held at the U.S. Army 2nd Aviation Detachment Hangar at Stewart International Airport in New Windsor.
    During their two years attending Career and Technical Education programs, some students earned as many as 20 college credits to jump-start their post-secondary education. More than $22,000 in scholarships for outstanding performance and community service were also awarded during the evening ceremony.
