During commencement ceremonies on June 24, 231 young women and men were awarded diplomas, that endearing moment of accomplishment, marking the end of a journey that begin in kindergarten in 2008.

In a departure from tradition, graduation took place at the district’s new multi-use artificial turf athletic field with its 1,500-seat bleachers rather than at Historic Track.

Particular recognition was given to the honor graduates: Holly M. Bachorik, Madilyn Bunzey, Tallon Phillips Clark, Jade Alexa Kimmel, Ryan H. Mistretta and Benjamin David Pahucki.

Given what this class had to endured, particularly since the world changed in March 2020 with the advent - no the onslaught - of COVID-19, perhaps there is solace in the words of Cory Booker, the U.S. Senator from New Jersey: “Real courage is holding on to a still voice in your head that says, ‘I must keep going.’ It’s that voice that says nothing is a failure if it is not final. That voice that says to you, ‘Get out of bed. Keep going. I will not quit.’”
