Chester. The holiday lights at the Erie Station go up on Sunday, Dec. 5

| 01 Dec 2021 | 04:56

The Chester Historical Society’s annual tree lighting takes place Sunday, Dec. 5.

Caroling at the Erie Station on Winkler Place begins at 5 p.m. and the tree lighting will be at 5:30 p.m.

This year’s event will be scaled down from prior years, but all are welcome to ring in the season.

The Chester Historical Society also would like to sincerely thank the firefighters of Walton Engine and Hose who came Monday night in the bitter cold and wind and used their ladder truck to put up the light strings on the large outdoor tree at the Erie Station in preparation for the community tree lighting on Dec. 5.

Chief Brandon Helmke and firefighters Eddie Sheehan, Anthony Riale, James Goodsen and Henry Hunt did a fantastic job in difficult conditions and enabled the society to have its traditional tree lighting to welcome the season.

Thanks, too, to Historical Society members Clif Patrick, Lynn Berenberg, Judy Barry and Georgina and Richard Robillard who were there as well.
