Chester. The deadline for filing a petition for the Chester School Board is April 19

    Residents of the Chester School District who are interested in serving on the Board of Education should contact School District Clerk Debra Lys at debra.lys@chesterufsd.org.

    There will be two seats open for the May 18 election and the both terms are for three years.

    Interested candidates must meet the following qualifications:

    a) A citizen of the Unite States

    b) Eighteen years of age or older

    c) Must be able to read and write

    d) A legal resident of the district for at least one year prior to election

    e) May not be an employee of the Chester School District

    f) The only member of his/her family (that is, cannot be a member of the same household) on the Chester Union Free School District Board

    g) May not simultaneously hold another, incompatible public office

    h) Must not have been removed from a school district office within one year preceding the date of election to the board

    Petitions must be returned with at least 25 signatures no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, April 19.
