Chester takes a foliage hike, cleans up historic cemetery

Chester —Area residents recently joined the Chester Parks and Recreation Department’s second annual hike, to see the fall foliage from the town’s property known as Broadview. It was a beautiful morning to enjoy outstanding views of the surrounding town and county from atop the hillside. The Preservation Collective sponsored and guided the event. Residents familiarized themselves with the area and enjoyed the picturesque scenery. The hike also sparked a work-party to clean-up the neglected and overgrown historic cemetery observed on the site. The parks department would like to thank Chester Town Councilman Steve Neuhaus for organizing a volunteer crew for the cemetery clean-up and volunteers from Smitty’s Landscaping, the Chester Fire Department, the Preservation Collective, town historian Clifton Patrick, and Judge Joseph Ranni and family.
