Edward J. Mundy

Edward Mundy of Chester, N.Y., passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2019. He was 69.

In his last days he was surrounded by so many friends and family members. He was retired from the NYPD, where he worked for many years as an Officer and a Detective.

Son of the (late) Nicholas Mundy and Gertrude Mundy, he was born on Dec. 20, 1949, in Brooklyn.

After his retirement from the NYPD, he managed used car lots and spent a lot of time repo-ing cars. His love and confidence in the Mets lost him many bets with friends and family, but he always enjoyed rooting for the underdog. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, camping, RV-ing, and boating on Lake George. His favorite pastime was being with his grandchildren, who affectionately referred to him as "Pa". He also loved being around his great nieces and great nephews.

Survivors include his wife, Cherri, whom he was married to just shy of 50 years; son Ted Mundy and his wife, Sandra, of Tappan, N.Y.; daughter, Shawna Chaluisan and her husband, Adrian, of Chester, N.Y.; mother, Gertrude Mundy of Staten Island, N.Y.; grandchildren, Dylan and Danny Mundy and Ayla and Camryn Chaluisan; brothers, Nicholas Mundy and his wife, Jean, of Chester and Richard Mundy and his wife, Eva ,of Queens; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews as well as cousins.

Visitation was held Dec. 4 at the Lippincott Funeral Chapel, Goshen, N.Y. Burial was to be held at the convenience of the family.
