Alan S. Lipman, Esq., of Warwick, New York, passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 19, 2021, at Chilton Medical Center. He was 86 years old.
A funeral service and burial led by Rabbi Harry Levin took place on Sunday, Feb. 21, at the Cedar Park Bethel Cemetery in Paramus, New Jersey, in the presence of his immediate family.
Alan is survived by his wife Marie (Bobi) Hamilton-Lipman and her son David and his children Madison and Chase. He is further survived by his first wife, Anita Lipman, and their three children, Michael Lipman (Harvard, Mass.) and his wife Brigitte Bovy and their children Sebastien and Alexia; Stacey Bamford (Clarks Summit, Pa.) and her husband Robert Bamford and their children Jason and Elizabeth; and Peace Weaver (Asheville, N.C.) and her children Gavin and Ibis.
He is preceded in death by his second wife Heather Pargeter Lipman and survived by her son Andrew Pargeter, her daughter Rachel Pargeter and husband Charles Lurch and their children Caroline and Cassandra; her daughter Jane Brief and her husband Eric and their children Spencer and Davis.
Alan was born in Hoboken, New Jersey, on March 24, 1934, to Arthur and Natalie Lipman. He was the middle son of three boys. He is preceded in death by his older brother Lewis Lipman while his younger brother Kenneth Lipman resides in California.
He is further survived by Lewis’ children Linda, Shelly and Joseph and Kenneth’s children Aaron and Jacob.
Alan graduated in 1957 from the New York University School of Law. He was a brilliant lawyer, who loved his profession and practiced for more than 60 years. He excelled in his field and mentored many attorneys.
His love of language and oratory was his trademark. He represented and appeared before a multitude of municipal boards where he was in his element.
Uniformly accepted and respected, Alan was proud to be an attorney and a longstanding member of the Orange County Bar Association.
Alan loved helping people and his community. He was active in the Winslow Therapeutic Riding Center, a member of the board for eight years and received the 2014 Making a Difference Award in honor of the time and services he gave to the non-profit organization.
When he was not working, Alan enjoyed tinkering with computers and shopping with Bobi. He loved to sing and Frank Sinatra was one of his favorite artists.
Nothing made him happier than talking with friends and family, telling stories, and sharing a joke or two.
