Land Trust announces new appointments to board of directors

SUGAR LOAF — Stuart Turner of Tuxedo has been named board president of the Orange County Land Trust.
The announcement was made by immediate past president Marlena Lange, who had served as president since 2012.
Lange also announced the appointment of Adrian Goddard of Cornwall to the Land Trust’s Board of Directors.

Turner was first appointed to the Land Trust’s Board of Directors in 2008, having most recently served as first vice president and chairman of several committees.
Turner earned a bachelor of arts, economics and city planning and a master of arts in political science from Rutgers University.
He is president of Turner Miller Group, a collaborative organization of land use and environmental professionals specializing in community planning, environmental studies and developer services.
Turner has more than 55 years of professional experience in land use, development and environmental planning. He has been a participant in the preparation of numerous master plans for urban, as well as suburban and rural communities.
Turner has also provided consulting services to a number of communities and to developers throughout the Hudson Valley, Long Island, New Jersey and Connecticut.
“His experience and expertise, combined with his commitment to smart growth and land conservation, will be very beneficial to leading this wonderful organization," Lange said in the land trust's press release announcing the changes to the board of directors.
Turner also serves on the board of the Orange County Citizens Foundation and contributes to educational programs of the County Planning Federation. He is also a Fellow of the American Institute of Certified Planners and a former national board and chapter president of the American Planning Association.

"We have a solid foundation and a record of achievement in protecting and preserving our essential natural resources. Goddard has also joined the Board of Directors of the Orange County Land Trust. He studied modern history at Lincoln College-Oxford and has more than 20 years of experience in real estate and commercial development throughout the northeast.
He was broker and branch manager for Julian J. Studley, owner of Quad Real Estate Marketing, Inc., and is currently managing partner of Goddard Development Partners.
He also recently announced his company’s purchase of the historic Storm King Golf Course.
Goddard was once a professional squash player and owner of First Avenue Squash Club in Manhattan. He is on the Rectors Council at Lincoln College and is a board member of Literacy Orange.
He lives in Cornwall with his wife and has two sons.
Since 1993, Orange County Land Trust has helped preserve Orange County’s important natural resources, scenic landscapes and working farmland, resulting in the protection of more than 5,000 acres of land.
