Thirteen college students have completed the 10-week long summer intership program at Mediacom Communications Corporation’s Blooming Grove headquarters.

Since the program’s inception in 2003, Mediacom’s career achievement program has given local college students the opportunity to develop their professionalism. This exposure has allowed the interns to explore their interests and apply their college coursework to obtain hands on experience in their respective fields.

The students were also able to interview employees from Mediacom field locations to gain additional insight into what a career in their department may look like and to understand the company more holistically.

The paid internship includes several trainings, such as business etiquette, resume building and meeting management. Furthermore, the interns were also able to engage with senior executives at weekly lunch and learns.

Outside of the corporate office, the interns were also able to participate in a volunteer day. This year, the group visited Museum Village, a not for profit history museum in Monroe. The interns spent a day of community service there clipping trees and painting fences.

Since its inception, 129 students have participated in Mediacom’s internship program and 20 have gone on to be offered full-time positions at the corporate office.

“From my first day of the internship program to the last, I felt like I was a part of a large welcoming family,” said second-year intern Zaire Elleby. “My fellow coworkers are always willing to assist and encourage me to learn from as many people as I can. The people here treat me as if I’ve been working for the company for years.”

At the end of their internship, each intern made a presentation to Mediacom’s Founder, Chairman and CEO Rocco B. Commisso and other senior executives. This was a chance for the interns to explain what they did over the course of the 10-week program and share their experiences.

Mediacom Communications Corporation is the 5th largest cable operator in the United States, providing high-speed data, video and phone services to nearly 1.4 million households and businesses across 22 states.
