José 'Joe' Rodriguez

José “Joe” Antonio Rodriguez of Chester (formerly of Peekskill) passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 17, 2020. He was 50 years old.

Born in the Bronx on Sept. 27, 1969, he was the son of Aida Quinones Rodriguez and José Antonio Rodriguez.

Joe was a graduate of John Jay College of Criminal Justice. He was a 24-year veteran of the U.S. Park Police as a Sergeant K-9 Handler at the Statue of Liberty on Ellis Island.

Joe was kind, compassionate and loving. His best and most important life accomplishments were his daughters, Jessica and Liana.

He loved helping and mentoring others and did so with a smile on his face.

José was predeceased by his father, José Antonio Rodriguez, and his nephew, Donald Ross Elliott III.

He is survived by his wife Amy (nee Hatzmann) and their two daughters, Jessica and Liana; mother Aida Quinones Rodriguez; sister Aixa Rodriguez Elliott; brother in-law Chris Elliott; nephew Chris Elliott Jr. and nieces Leilani andVictoria Elliott.

Due to the COVID-19 restriction on public gatherings, private burial arrangements were made.

Joe's interment was at the Warwick Cemetery. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.
