Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus released the following statement after the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s Board of Directors approved a new strategic plan for New York Stewart International Airport:

“This is great news for Stewart Airport and our region. I’m glad to see that the plan includes marketing for the Hudson Valley, New York City and International travelers. With attractions in Orange County such as West Point, Woodbury Common and LEGOLAND in 2020, we have much to draw people. I will continue to work diligently with the Port Authority and Stewart Airport to make it easier for travelers to visit Orange County.”

The Port Authority’s new strategic plan for Stewart International Airport includes:

    · Modernizing Stewart Airport’s air carrier incentive program to attract and retain new carriers and service to new markets.

    · Leveraging partnerships with regional and state agencies and tourism and trade organizations to promote the airport as a driver of economic activity.

    · Hiring an experienced marketing firm to increase Stewart Airport’s visibility in both the international marketplace and in the Hudson Valley Region, and to strengthen the airport’s brand.

    · Developing a joint marketing strategy with key businesses and attractions in the Hudson Valley region to drive traffic through Stewart Airport.
