Chester Town Supervisor Alex Jamieson appeared in Albany County Court on Tuesday for a status conference on the charges against him.
Jamieson is charged with one count of third-degree grand larceny and 22 counts of first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, all felonies. The State Attorney General’s office alleges he illegally collected about $6,000 from the department of labor in 2013 and 2014 while employed as a town official.
At the status conference, Jamieson's case was adjourned to September to give the parties more time to negotiate and seek a resolution outside the eyes of the courtroom.
Jamieson was arraigned in Albany County Court on June 6 after his arrest at Chester Town Hall. He has said that he will not step down as Chester town supervisor and that the indictment is a personal matter.
Jamieson’s next court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 5 at 9 a.m.
