— The C.J. Hooker Players are giving "Aladdin Jr." the royal treatment in its spring production.

The Disney musical is based on the 1992 Academy Award-winning film and the 2014 hit Broadway show about the “diamond in the rough” street urchin who learns that his true worth lies deep within.

Aladdin and his friends Babkak, Omar, and Kassim are down on their luck until Aladdin discovers a magic lamp and the Genie who has the power to grant three wishes. Wanting to earn the respect of the princess, Jasmine, Aladdin embarks on an adventure that will test his will and his moral character.

Friday, April 5, and Saturday, April 6.

The C.J. Hooker Players will perform "Aladdin Jr." at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 5, and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, at the C.J. Hooker Middle School, 41 Lincoln Avenue, Goshen.

The cast has been working hard to mount this production. Recently they traveled to New York City for a workshop with Broadway choreographers, learning dances straight from the Broadway production of "Aladdin." They then attended a performance of the show.

The director of the C.J. Hooker production is Kate Loftus, the musical director is Pamela Murphy, and the choreographer is Layla Boyles. Louise Castleman is the stage manager.

Tickets are $12 and may be purchased online through April 4 (gcsny.org) or at the door before each performance.
