James Michael Klingman of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., beloved as a husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2018, as "When the Saints Go Marching In" played on his bedside radio. He is now reunited with Sheila, his cherished bride of 58 years, who passed away in 2016.

Jim was born in Middletown, N.Y., on March 24, 1932, to Charles and Mary Agnes (Lynch) Klingman and raised there as the youngest of their eight children. His siblings — Charles, Richard, Margaret, Isabel, Francis, Theresa and Elizabeth — all predeceased him.

Jim graduated in 1952 from Orange County Community College's first class, and from Rider College (now University) in 1954. After service in the U.S. Army (1954-56), where he was stationed in West Berlin, Germany, he returned to New York. Jim and Sheila wed in 1958, and soon after moved to Montgomery, Ala., as Jim began his work at I.B.M. For most of his career with I.B.M., which spanned close to 40 years, he was based in East Fishkill, N.Y.
