Federico Llaverias passed away the evening of Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2018. He was 72.

Born Dec. 25, 1945, he had an adventurous childhood until the age of 11 when he lost his father to tuberculosis. At this young age, he began to work providing for his mother and younger siblings.

At the age of 23, in March 1968, he married his wife, Ana. He and his wife made a home and raised a family of four children in Brooklyn, N.Y.

He was hard working, reliable, and a conscientious artisan carpenter. He kept in physical shape by independently lifting, moving, and managing his projects. He took great pride in his work. Whether it was a complete kitchen cabinet remodel, a wardrobe, a dresser, or any creation of his own, he took great pleasure and joy from beginning to end. You were always assured a great piece and seamless finish.

He was a professional league bowler. Every bowling season, he brought home a trophy indicating his status in the league. With confidence he displayed them and upon your visit, he’d share an accompanying stories of a trophy or two.

He loved to dance and spend time with his family either listening to music, dancing, or watching a comedy. One of his favorite comedians was Jerry Lewis. Among his favorite movies were “The Family Jewels,” “The Disorderly Orderly,” “Cinderfella,” and “The Nutty Professor.” He enjoyed watching his grandchildren compete in sports as well as perform in their orchestra concerts. He was proud of them and told them everyday.

He spent his last two years residing in Goshen with his daughter. He would often be seen walking two miles in the summer months around the Goshen High School tennis courts, baseball field, soccer field, and track. He would raise his hands in worship at Grace Community Church in Washingtonville, N.Y., and soon after sitting down, fall asleep.

He called everyone at the Sapphire Adult Day, the Elant Adult Day program and staff his friends.

He was predeceased by his wife of 46 years in April 2014. He is survived by his four children and six grandchildren.

He is sorely missed.
