— The Paul Van Doran Memorial Fund presents "An Afternoon With Duo Alterity," a performance on March 25 by a chamber music ensemble that's been winning prizes in several prestigious competitions.

The duo recently performed at Carnegie Hall, and was awarded first prize in the 2016 Vivo International Music Competition. They also won first place in the 2016 Hartt Chamber Music Competition, and first prize in The Music of Americas Great Composers Competition.

In addition to Carnegie Hall, Duo Alterity has performed at many major venues, including the DiMenna Center for Classical Music and the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts. They were also invited to perform at the Governor’s Mansion in Hartford, Conn.

Duo Alterity will perform from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 25, at the First Presbyterian Church, 33 Park Place, Goshen. Admission is $20. Refreshments and raffles will follow the concert.

The Paul Van Doran Memorial Fund is a component fund of the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan. Donations to this fund are considered charitable contributions and are tax deductible.

The fund honors Paul Van Doran, a student at Goshen High School and BOCES C-Tech who died in an accident on July 14, 2015, at the age of 16.

His obituary stated that "Paul was known for his smiling face and his sense of humor. His favorite school activity was being a part of stage crew. He was so proud to be a part of the last two musical performances at Goshen High School. He found his place there. He was a great kid who always took care of his mother and brothers."
