Beverly Jane Askew of Goshen, N.Y. dies at age 92

Beverly Jane Askew of Goshen, N.Y., formerly of Montvale, N.J., passed away Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, at Orange Regional Medical Center, Wallkill, N.Y. She was 92.

Daughter of the late John and Charlotte Anthony Watkins, she was born Feb. 18, 1925, in Plymouth, Pa.

She was the widow of Clarence Askew, who passed away in 1992.

She graduated Plymouth High School in 1942. In 1946 she married Clarence Askew and they settled in Montvale to raise their family. She was a homemaker and enjoyed taking care of her home and family. She loved sewing, crafting, gardening, birding and the company of her adoring pets. She was also an active member of the Pearl River Methodist Church.

She resided in Montvale until 1996 when she relocated to upstate New York. Prior to her passing she had resided at Valley View in Goshen.

She will be greatly missed by her family. She is survived by her daughters, Leslie Schumacher of Goshen and Charlene Thiel of Rhode Island; granddaughter, Jennifer Thomas and her husband, Anthony, of Clover, S.C.; great-grandchildren, Christopher and Lucy.

She was predeceased by her sisters Arlene Kretchmer and Charlotte Davis.

Visitation was held Jan. 21 at Smith, Seaman and Quackenbush Funeral Home, Monroe, N.Y. A Chapel Service followed in the funeral home. Cremation took place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope, N.Y.

Memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Goshen, 44 Police Drive, Goshen, NY 10924.
