Carol A. Doremus of Chester, N.Y., dies at age 71

Carol A. Doremus of Chester, N.Y., passed away Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh. She was 71.

Daughter of Leroy Conklin and Gertrude McGrady Conklin, she was born Nov. 10, 1946, in Tuxedo, N.Y.

She was a production worker for Amscan Inc., in Harriman, N.Y.

Survivors include her daughters, Carol Sutherland and husband, Mark, of Chester, N.Y., and Teena Schueler and husband, Stephen, of Chester; brother, Thomas Kyles of Chester; sister, Diana Kyles of Goshen, N.Y.; sister-in-law, Carol Jones and husband, Stanley, of Chester; grandchildren, Ashley McHugh and husband, Jonathan, Megan Sutherland and fiancé, Alex Krymowski, Teena Marie Schueler, Spencer Sutherland and wife, Victoria, and Jack Schueler; great-granddaughter, Savannah Garzone; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Paul Doremus Jr.; brother, Leroy "Butch" Conklin Jr.; and sisters, Virginia Smith, Agnes Edwards, Joan Edwards, Grace Conklin, Bernice Kyles, Joyce Kyles, and Mary Memmelaar.

Visitation was held Jan. 16 at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush Funeral Home in Monroe.

A Chapel Service will be held in the funeral home on Jan. 17, officiated by Pastor Ross Topliff.

Interment will follow in Chester Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
