Barry Steven Chait of Washingtonville, N.Y., dies at age 50

Barry Chait, a long-time resident of Washingtonville, N.Y., as well as the Owner and Coach of CrossFit Orange NY and Bare Fitness, died unexpectedly on Friday, Dec. 22, 2017. He was 50.

He was born on June 12, 1967, in Brooklyn.

Barry was a member of the Orange County Chamber of Commerce, volunteer football coach for Washingtonville Youth Football, former volunteer firefighter for the Monell Engine Company, former fitness coordinator for the NYPD as well as a former strength and conditioning coach for the New York Jets.

He was a loving husband of Laura; devoted father to Mikayla, Kevin and Joshua; beloved son of Phyllis and George Partsinevelos; son-in-law of Ray and Irene Cholewka; dear brother of David (Lisa) Chait, Ivy (Peter) Skow, Lisa (Brian) Gillott; brother-in-law of Nicholas Cholewka and William (Karen) Cholewka; dear uncle to Daniel (Jennifer) Chait, Neva (Neil) Mendelowitz, Alissa and Liana Chait, Madison and Zachary Skow, Griffin Gillott, Billy, Ella, and Holly Cholewka; as well as a great-uncle to Matthew Chait.

Barry was pre-deceased in death by his nephews, Benjamin and Samuel Gillott.

Visitation was held Dec. 26 at the Donovan Funeral Home, Goshen, N.Y., followed by a funeral service. Burial took place at the Holy Spirit Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, 141 Sarah Wells Trail, Campbell Hall, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Funeral arrangements were made by Zygmunt-Murtie Funeral and Cremation Service in Warwick, N.Y.
