Veronica ("Ronnie") Degnan, a 55 -year resident of Goshen, N.Y., passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, July 10, 2018.
She was born on May 2. 1936, in Brooklyn. She attended school at St. John's University, where she was one of a few women in her graduating class to receive her Bachelor's in Business Administration.
Veronica worked in the Manhattan business sector for many years before moving to Goshen. She immediately made many friends and became a vibrant member of the community.
She worked as teacher at St. John's Catholic School in Goshen and substituted in the Middletown School District. She retired from the Orange County Government center after 12 years of service to the county clerk's office. She was a member of many organizations, including Goshen Welcome Wagon, Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts, 4-H, the Business Professional Women of Goshen, and the Goshen Senior Center; as well as a dedicated parishioner of St. John's Catholic Church.
Veronica is survived by her husband of 56 years, Francis Degnan; daughters, Karen and her husband, John Miller, and Lorraine Barrett; and son, Ryan Degnan. She was adored by her loving grandchildren Kaitlyn, Sara, Jenna and Jason.
Veronica loved to travel, meet new people, and always remembered the names of everyone she met. She will be remembered for her endless energy, positive attitude, and optimism. She was the backbone of her the family. She will forever remain in the hearts of loving family and friends.
Visitation was held July 13 at the Donovan Funeral Home, Goshen. A Mass of Christian Burial was held July 14 at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Goshen. Burial followed in the Orange County Veteran's Cemetery , Goshen.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Breast cancer foundation, and to the Business Professional Woman's group of Goshen.
