— Victoria Fini and Tom Stickley are the Student-Athletes of the Month for October at Goshen Central School.

Victoria FiniAs a three-season varsity athlete, Victoria knows how to manage her time in the classroom and stay in shape for her upcoming cross country races. Most recently, the senior captain ended her season at the Section IX meet at Bear Mountain, running a season best 21:30, finishing third for Goshen.

Along with cross country, Victoria runs indoor track in the winter and is the captain of the Varsity Softball Team. She hopes to lead her team to another section title this spring playing first base and the outfield.

In the classroom, Victoria maintains a 90 GPA and is enrolled in several advanced courses including, career internship. She plans to achieve a degree in business marketing and attend one of her top schools. As education is top priority, college athletics is not out of the equation for Victoria.

Tom StickleyThomas Stickley is a four-year starter for Goshen High School’s Varsity Soccer team. He has captained the team for the last two years and has just ended a successful 17-2-1 season.

Thomas began playing for the high school as an outside defender in his freshman and sophomore years. As some of the upperclassman graduated, he moved on to lead the midfield finishing this year with 12 goals and 15 assists.

In addition to playing for Goshen during the school season, Thomas plays year round for TSF Academy out of Wayne, N.J. He commutes the two hours, three times a week, to train.

Over the last years, he’s had the opportunity to play for TSF in Argentina and in Madrid, Spain, as a part of the Adidas Next Generation program. Most recently, he played for TSF FC, an NPSL (semi-pro) team that reached the Conference Finals.

Thomas is a not only an athlete, but has done well in the classroom too. He is an honors student with a 97 average, taking accelerated math and science courses throughout the years. He is a member of the National Foreign Language Honor Society as well as the National Honor Society. He prefers the math and science courses and intends on majoring in business next year.

Thomas is a member of the Leo Club and volunteers as a student coach for one of Goshen Soccer Club’s girl’s travel teams, Spirit. He loves the game of soccer and enjoys the time he gets to spend training the younger players.

Outside of soccer, Stickley loves spending time skiing locally and is looking forward to the ski season now that the outdoor soccer season is coming to a close.
