Bladeless cataract surgery offered at Horizon Family Medical Group
GOSHEN — Horizon Family Medical Group is pleased to announce that Michael Sayegh, an ophthalmologist in Cornwall, has joined the practice and Horizon will now offer medical and surgical ophthalmology. Dr. Jennifer Wong, an optometrist, has also joined Horizon and will be working with Sayegh. Horizon now offers both primary and surgical eye care.

Sayegh and Horizon Family Medical Group have the first FDA-approved LenSx® femtosecond cataract laser in Orange County.
"Using highly advanced technology to capture extremely precise, real-time, high-resolution digital images of the eye, we can now plan and perform cataract surgery to customized specifications that were previously unachievable," said Sayegh in a release.
Bladeless Laser Cataract Surgery, with the new LenSx femtosecond laser, has significantly improved the precision of several of the most critical steps that were traditionally performed manually, according to the release. The precise steps performed by the laser means better intraocular lens placement within the eye, less trauma to the eye, and more predictable visual results. The technology offers greater freedom from eyeglasses after cataract surgery.
About the doctors
Sayegh is president and medical director of Eastern Orange Ambulatory Surgery Center in Cornwall and practices at Cataract & Laser Eye Surgeons of Hudson Valley, also in Cornwall. He is also the LASIK Consultant for New York Cataract & Laser Eye Care in Yonkers.
Practicing locally for 15 years, Sayegh has always been at the forefront of his specialty introducing the most advanced surgical techniques.
Wong specializes in glaucoma, diabetes and low vision care. She is a clinical assistant professor of optometry and has volunteered to treat and help the disadvantaged obtain work skills or remain independent in their homes.
Sayegh is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Wong is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and a board-certified diplomate.
