You can charge your electric car in Goshen

— The Village of Goshen's electric vehicle charging station is open for business, Goshen Mayor Kyle Roddey announced.

This station, found behind Elsie's Luncheonette and adjacent to Grand Street, can be used by any resident or visitor with an electric car. A small fee is charged so that the village does not absorb the cost.

This station was partially funded by a grant from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation's 2016 Zero-Emission Vehicle Clean Vehicle Infrastructure rebate program. Completing this installation was one of the "high impact items" required for Goshen to be designated a Clean Energy Community by the state. This status will allow the village to receive $50,000 in funding, which will be used to install new LED street lights. These LED lights will save energy and benefit the environment while also saving taxpayer dollars as electric costs will decrease.

"we are so excited for the charging station to be up and running," said Roddey. "I have had a number of interested residents express support for the station. As renewable and green energy continue to become more affordable, I believe there will be an even greater demand for the appropriate infrastructure to support this technology. By completing this installation now, Goshen will continue to be seen as a thought leader in this field."
