'Wizard of Oz' at Greenwood Lake park this summer

Greenwood Lake Theater is presenting "The Wizard of Oz" to Thomas P. Morahan Waterfront Park this summer.

This beloved tale, in which a Kansas farm girl travels over the rainbow to discover the magical power of home, has been entertaining audiences for generations.

This is the group's second summer in the park. Performances are Wednesday through Sunday, Aug. 2 through 6 at 7:30 p.m. nightly.

The show is based on the classic motion picture owned by Turner Entertainment Co. It is directed by Michael Tuck, with musical direction by Kevin White and choreography by Dallyn Brunck.

The cast includes:

Katherine Weatherford* as Dorothy Gale

Mary Riley* as Glinda / Emily Gale

Yaniv Zarif* as Scarecrow / Hunk

Marc Bitler as Tinman / Hickory

Nicholas J. Pearson as Lion / Zeke

Alan Houser as Emerald City Guard / Henry Gale

John Kownacki as Wizard of Oz / Professor Chester Marvel

Tickets are $20 for adults; discounted tickets are available for children, senior citizens and military/students with identification. Those attending are encouraged to bring blankets, cushions or chairs for the picnic-style seating. There will be one intermission. The show runs for two hours and 15 minutes.
