— Join the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum for Family Fishing Day — from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 25 — at the Museum’s Outdoor Discovery Center, on Muser Drive, across from 174 Angola Road, Cornwall.

Bring your family and fishing rod to learn safety and casting techniques of rod and reel before heading out to fish. Environmental Educator Carl Heitmuller will lead the program.

The museum's ponds are home to many different species of fish, including large-mouth bass, black crappy, and pumpkinseed sunfish. The New York State fishing license requirement is waived for adults who participate in this event.

The museum provides the bait, you bring poles and your sense of adventure. Experiencing the thrill of how to land the “big one” can lead to a lifetime of fun.

"My fondest childhood memories were when my mom taught me and my twin brother how to fish at Chadwick Lake," Heitmuller said. "We would fish all summer long and that love has stayed with me all of my life.”

This event is for adults or families with children ages 5 and up. Pre-registration required. Admission is $10 for adults, $7 for children.

For more information and registration, visit or call 534-5506 ext. 204.
