The Outdoor Discovery Center at the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum is offering maple sugar tours to scouts on March 18, 19, 25 and 26, from 10 to 11 a.m.

Each troop or den will receive a special tour by an environmental educator. Tours can accommodate up to 20 people, scouts and adults included. If your group is small, they may combine groups to fill tours.

The tour includes:

History of Maple Sugaring

Tree identification

Tree tapping and sap collection techniques

Live demonstration of syrup production at the Sugar Shack

Maple Syrup taste test

Museum “Fun Patch” for each scout

Reserve as soon as possible. This is a very popular event. Reservations and a non-refundable deposit of $50 is required. Dress appropriately for the weather, including warm snow boots, coats, hat and gloves.

For more information, call Kait at 845-534-5506 Ext. 209.

The Outdoor Discovery Center is located on Muse Drive, across from 174 Angola Road, in Cornwall.
