— Ryan W. Rich, a detective with the Village of Goshen Police Department, has been promoted to the rank of sergeant.

“I have had the opportunity to work with and observe Ryan W. Rich in the course of his duties and am proud to recommend his name for promotion to Police Sergeant,” Village Chief of Police James Watt said to village board members at Monday night’s meeting. "I am confident Ryan will excel in his new assignment and will be a great benefit to the community, the department and his co-workers."

Rich has been with the police department since 2007. He has previous experience with the Town of Chester and the New York City Police Departments. He has been serving in his current assignment since 2013.

He also serves as a field training officer for the department and carries many administrative tasks, including technology development and systems management.

Sergeant Rich received congratulatory handshakes from village trustees Mike Nuzzolese, Chris Gurda, Ed Char, Pete Smith, and Mayor Kyle Roddey.

“We’re always safe in Goshen because of the leadership here," said Roddey.
