5K Run/Walk to raise awareness for Recovery Month

September is National Recovery Month. In celebration of recovery month, the Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Council of Orange County is hosting their fourth annual 5K run/walk on Saturday, Sept. 13 at 9 a.m. at Middletown Community Campus.

The run/walk will be held to raise awareness of the recovery community and reduce the stigma that so often surrounds the disease of addiction.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each age group and top three walkers overall. Age groups: 12 and under, 13 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69 and 70 and over.

Preregister by Sept. 5 for $18 and $20 after Sept. 5 and on race day. Students pre-registered and race day will be $15 with student ID. T-shirts will be given to the fist 125 participants.

Register by mail or online at Itsyourrace.com. Please make checks payable to: ADAC, PO Box 583, Goshen, N.Y. 10924 Attn: 5K. Runners have the option to pick up their bags before the event at the address above from Sept. 10 to 12.

In person registration/check in is 7:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.

The Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Council of Orange County is a non-profit organization serving the communities of Orange County. They offer a wide variety of services including information and referral, substance abuse awareness education and full CASAC training through the School of Addiction Studies in Goshen.
