— There are 14 new teachers and one new assistant principal starting in the Goshen Central School district this year, officials announced at the Aug. 18 school board meeting.

Good scores — Test scores that Superintendent Dan Connor says "speak well of our staff" will be reviewed at the Sept. 2 meeting of the school board.

New AP texts — Kurtis Kotes, the high school principal, said the new advanced placement texts for U.S. history and government class offer critical readings coupled with excellent writing materials aligned with the core curriculum.

Summer graduation — Four students graduated from the district's summer school on Aug. 20 (see related story on page 8).

Orientation — The new teacher orientation was held Aug. 26.

Gifts to the district — The board accepted gift cards totalling $800 from Hobby Lobby Stores. Four $200 cards were awarded to each building.

Superintendent's contract — The board approved the superintendent's addendum agreement to his contract for the amount of $183.389.
