Lily is ready to love again

— Lily is a four-year-old female Staffordshire terrier — yes, otherwise know as a pit bull, and a great one at that. Lily came to the Goshen Humane Society as a bait dog who wasn't expected to make it. Lily took almost a full year to allow my husband to walk her. Until then she allowed a select few females to handle her.

She was never aggressive but terrified at the thought of trusting people and wondering if she would suffer for that choice. She was only about 35 pounds, if that, when a Good Samaritan rescued her. She had more than 100 open wounds, and even in this horrid condition, she gave me a kiss her first day at the shelter.

Lily is brindle with some white. She is 50 to 55 pounds and loves walks and really loves tummy rubs.

She is an incredible dog, but has been at the shelter for awhile. She thoroughly enjoys companionship. However, like many shelter animals, she needs to be given time to trust new people and surroundings. Lily needs a committed owner and someone who will give her the time to trust someone new.

Lily knows love and trust in the shelter. Now she needs a permanent home and loving family for a happy ending.

Thank you, volunteers
Thank you to all the students that have chosen to spend part of their summer at the shelter. A special thanks to the young volunteers that are spending time with our shelter cats. They are thoroughly enjoying the special attention.
