MIDDLETOWN - The 2019 concert programming at SUNY Orange opens on Sunday, Jan. 27, at 3pm with the The American String Quartet in Concert with Pianist Vadim Serebryany, the school announced.
The artists are scheduled to perform selections by Ravel, Dvorak, and Tsontakis.
Works by this mix of composers includes a quartet, a quintet, and solo piano pieces that demonstrate the versatility and virtuosity of the musicians.
2019 also marks the 45th anniversary of the American String Quartet. Violinist Laurie Carney, who is the only original member, presently plays with violinist Peter Winograd, violist Daniel Avshalomov, and cellist Wolfram Koessel.
The concert will take place at the William and Helen Richards Theatre at Orange Hall.

Additionally, the four have played the complete Beethoven cycle of string quartets at the Cervantes Festival in Mexico and the Tel Aviv Museum in Israel. It is the resident quartet at the Manhattan School of Music and the Aspen Music Festival.
