Chronicle correspondent wins for investigative reporting

CHESTER — Ginny Privitar of Chester, correspondent for The Chronicle and The Pike County Courier, was recognized by the national Local Media Association for investigative reporting.

The Pike County Courier won first place in the Investigative Reporting category for weekly newspapers of less than 20,000 circulation for Privitar’s story about the closing of the maternity ward at Bon Secours. The story also ran in The Chronicle last year.

The story is titled "Maternity ward's closure divides community Bon Secours accused of closing ward because of high use by poor women: Hospital says low birth numbers drove decision." To read the full story, visit
