PORT JERVIS, N.Y. — It’s that time of year again when flowers and chocolates are on the menu, and The Presby Players perform their annual Valentine’s Show.
Always a big hit, this will be the fourth Valentine’s performance for the community theater group. “Love: The Valentine Show” will be an evening of love songs from classic animated films.
“This show is always a hit,” said the director, Jeffrey Stocker. “I think it’s a nice way to celebrate the holiday with a loved one. It makes a great date night.”
The singers range from adults to young children, performing with musical direction by Sandy Stalter, who said more than two dozen films are represented.
“Everybody had a favorite song from an animated film, 35 songs in total, some from cartoons I recall from when I was a kid, and some contemporary ones," said Stalter.
Stocker said that almost all the singers are from his ongoing acting workshops.
"It is a real delight to see how these performers have grown over the years," he said. "This is our fourth annual Valentine’s show, and many in the cast have performed from the beginning.”
Performances are at Marsh Hall, 60 Sussex St., in Port Jervis, N.Y., on Friday, Feb. 15, and Saturday, Feb. 16, at 7 p.m.; and Sunday, Feb. 17, at 3 p.m. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased at the door, which opens one half-hour before each performance.
There is still space available for anyone who would like to study acting with Jeffrey Stocker. The Adult Acting Workshop is held on Monday nights from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., and the Young Adults Acting Workshop (ages 10-17) is held on Sundays from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Workshops are ongoing for $50 per set of five sessions.
