— Churches in Chester will hold a prayer service and vigil for the victims of the Orlando massacre starting 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 19, at the Chester Kiwanis 9/11 Memorial in Chester Community Park on Vadala Road.
In case of inclement weather, the service and vigil will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Chester, 94 Main Street.
Other churches to participate in the ceremony include St. Columba Roman Catholic Church, St. Paul's Episcopal Church, and Sugar Loaf United Methodist Church.
The worst mass shooting in American history happened early Sunday morning, leaving 49 people dead and 53 wounded at a gay night club in Orlando, Florida.
Another community vigil is planned for 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14, on Railroad Avenue in Warwick, to be presented by Mayor Michael J. Newhard and Safe Space America.
"We will gather in solidarity for the victims, family, friends, club owners, and the emergency workers," says the invitation to the Warwick vigil from Orange County Pride. "Please join us with a candle and love in your heart!"
